Bloodclaat

March 27, 2026

Hi folks! Let me start by saying it’s an honour to be part of junglekitten’s curated by. So let me tell a little bit about myself...

In all honestly: for a long time I didn’t know of the existence of jungle. About 16 years ago I went to Drum and Bass parties and at these parties the closing act often played jungle tunes. The first few times I heard jungle I thought it was just noise. Then...after the 4th or so party where I heard these jungle tunes it hit me: I finally understood the rhythm of the tracks that were played. When it hit me, I immediately fell in love with the sound. Even so much I thought the sound wasn’t heard enough in Utrecht and its surroundings. For this reason, I started hosting Bloodclaat parties to fill the gap. These parties were heavily focused on breakbeat tunes using and chopping the amen break. Last month we even celebrated the 10th year anniversary of Bloodclaat.

Throughout my years of spinning jungle music I leaned heavily into the ragga and grime sounds coming from Belgium and the UK. Without further ado here’s the list of jungle tracks that stood out for me the last decennium.

First jungle track: Humb- Ain’t no Sunshine
So often when someone finds a new music style they like it’s so hard to find new tunes to broaden their horizon. You want to find similar music but you just can’t simply because you don’t know where to look. This was no different for me. Luckily, I had friends that mostly play Drum and Bass but were no stranger to jungle music. This track from Humb was in the first batch of music I was pointed to. This track has the amen break warfare that I fell in love with. It is also the reason why I named my event Bloodclaat. It’s an old track but still often used in my sets. Since this is the track that started it all for me it has the honour to lead this “curated by” list.

L3ft Luca5 – Real talk
This track is a bit more obscure but I really love this one. It has this industrial vibe still combined with ragga-samples. It’s ravy, dark and uplifting all at the same time. When I think of jungle played at a warehouse rave this track comes to mind. Suffice to say: it will make people move their feet on the dancefloor.

Supa ape – Approach with caution
One of my favourite labels has to be UKJ (UK jungle). This label fulfills all my needs in the amen warfare department. This whole curated by list actually has several artists with releases on this label. The one artist that really stands out for me is Supa Ape. The way he produces his basslines triggers somethings within my soul which I really like. It’s unique but it slams for sure!

Feyder – That’s my number
Just a banger. This has to be one of the best raggajungle tracks from one the best raggajungle producers out there. I don’t think there are many jungle parties where, if there was a raggajungle dj, this tune hasn’t been played. And this is no surprise at all given how good this tune is.
